Episode 165 – Berlin Travel Planning

I want to thank Bob for helping me out on this podcast.  He gave me some great insights into Berlin that I’m sure someday I will use.  There are very few European capitals that I have not been to, but this is one of them.  Here are some of the places that we discussed in the episode. Brandenbuger Gate, Tier Garden (I checked there are no Beir Gardens in it), Reichstag, and Museum Island.  Museum Island is actually an island in the Spree River in central Berlin.  Some of the museums of note are Nuese (New) Museum, Pergamon (Temporarily Closed), Altes Museum, Alte National Galerie, Museum Fur Asiatische Kunst.  These are easy to get to on the U-Bahn (metro/subway).  There is Check Point Charlie and the Berlin Wall Memorial for Cold War tourism.  Don’t forget to check-out the Berlin Welcome Card as well.  I was also interested in the Little Istanbul part of Berlin as well.  I love that food.

Bob mentioned to side trip.  The first to see palaces is in the town of Potsdam, which is near the city.  The second is the World War II concentration camp called Sachsenhausen.  You can find tours for it online.  I know it’s dark tourism, but the history can’t be forgotten.

If you would like to help the show and you have been thinking about getting one of these credit cards use my links: Capital One Venture X, Southwest Airlines Personal and/or Business Cards, Chase Sapphire Reserve, Chase Sapphire Preferred, Chase Business Ink Cards, and the IHG (Holiday Inn) Cards. If you use my links to sign up for the card I get some points, and again it doesn’t cost you anything to help out the show.  Some of these credit card links do not last long.  If the link doesn’t work please contact me and I can send one to you in real time.  Remember, if you are unable to pay your credit cards off monthly then it is not worth getting these.  Thanks so much!
