Episode 153 – Latvia

If you would like to help the show and you have been thinking about getting one of these credit cards use my links: Capital One Venture X, Southwest Airlines Personal and/or Business Cards, Chase Sapphire Reserve, Chase Sapphire Preferred, Chase Business Ink Cards, and the IHG (Holiday Inn) Cards. If you use my links to sign up for the card I get some points, and again it doesn’t cost you anything to help out the show.  Some of these credit card links do not last long.  If the link doesn’t work please contact me and I can send one to you in real time.  Remember, if you are unable to pay your credit cards off monthly then it is not worth getting these.  Thanks so much!

We traveled from Vilnious, Lithuania to Riga, Latvia via Flixbus.  It was an easy smooth journey getting from one country to the other.  No stops at the border.  We stayed at Rixwell Old Riga Palace Hotel booking through the Capital One Portal to use my $300 travel credit with my Venture X card.  Use Bus 22 to and from the airport and the city center.  Use your international fee-free credit card to do so.  My favorite two spots in Riga old town was the view on St. Peters steeple, but get there early, and the Gun Powder Tower military museum.  Do not drive by the Saeima Building, which is the parliment, or you will get to talk to a police officer.  Take a day trip to Cesis Castle (cute town), and Sirgulda Castle.  If I was planning to go back to Latvia I would try to time it for Cesis birthday weekend, and spend the night.  They had a least two temporary beer gardens and a large stage set-up for entertainment.  That would have been really fun.  You can do both places in a day, but leave early and stay late.  There is lots to do and see.  One two days in Riga’s old town will get you all the sites.  It’s a great place to hang and relax with an Aperol spritz.
