We flew in from Honolulu to Hilo on the big island. Grabbed some lunch and a couple of provisions for our Eco-Cabin at the Safeway grocery store. If you go to Booking.com and type in Volcano Eco Cabin & Eco Lodge you will find where we stayed. Very secluded. Please drive slowly on dirt roads, especially at night. Volcanoes National Park is awesome. Make sure you stop by the Kilauea Visitors Center. Ask all your questions there. That’s what the park rangers are there for. Day 1, we started out by hiking Crater Rim Trail where you are overlooking the Kilauea Caldera the entire time. Then we drove over to and hiked Kilauea Iki Crater on the Kilauea Iki trail. This is a must-do if you are able. From there we walked across the road to Nahuku (Thurston Lava Tube). We went back for lunch at Volcano House. Good pizzas and burgers as well. Next, we stopped at a couple of craters on Chain of Craters road as we headed to Holei Sea Arch down at the ocean. After viewing it, we walked out to Pu’uloa Petroglyphs, which were very interesting. Further on our drive back up the road, we hike Devastation Trail. Be looking for wild orchids! That was enough for day 1 and it will wear you out. Day 2, we packed up heading for Kona, but had many stops aloong the way. We drove up Mauna Loa Road to Mauna Loa Lookout, and then stopped by Tree Molds. From there we drove on Highway 11 to Ka’u Desert Trailhead to look at the footprints in the lava rock. We then had lunch in Naalehu, HI at Punalu’u Bakery. The most Southern bakery in the USA. From there we went to Southpoint, which is the most Southern point in the USA. Near Southpoint is Green Sand Beach as well. Back that night to Kona for Ola Brew and Kona Brewing Company.

If the link doesn’t work please contact me and I can send one to you real time. Remember, if you are unable to pay your credit cards off on a monthly basis then it is not worth getting these. Thanks so much!
