Get your Japan Rail Pass at JRPASS.COM.  If you use the link through my website, I get a small commission and it does not cost you any extra.  Take advantage of their excellent information in their Blogs, and ask any questions that you have through their Forum.  These are wonderful resources for planning your travel.  Check to make sure that Japan Rail Pass makes financial sense for you by using their Rail Fair Calculator to determine if it is cheaper to buy the pass or just buy tickets when you get to Japan.
