The next piece to my Munich travels was to Nymphenburg Palace and a side trip dinner to Aying, Germany. The extra things to see at Nymphenburg Palace is to see the Marstallmuseum (the carriage and sleigh museum), Porcelain Museum, ride a gondola in the summer, and Magdalenenklause (Hermitage of St Mary Magdalene). Remember, beside the palace grounds is Munich’s Botanical Gardens. Next go have a beer at Hirschgarten. Tram 16 or 17 tram stop Steubenplatz and then a 10 minute walk through the park to the restaurant (Koniglicher Hirschgarten) and the 8,000 seat beer garden (Fischbraterei im Hirschgarten). They are in the same complex. The Hop-On Hop-Off bus and adventure tours for Munich can be found here.
For a great beer drinking and restaurant side trip is going to Aying, Germany for some great German food and Ayinger Beer. Take the S-Bahn to get there. Ayinger makes an awesome dopplebock beer called Celebrator. They serve it in the bottle at the restaurant Ayinger Braustuberl. It has a nice beer garden, and you might want to make reservations. Looks like you might be able to email them for reservations. The hotel across the street is Brauereigasthof Hotel Aying.
